BECDM Youth Faith Ambassador Mission Statement

The BEDCM Youth Faith Ambassadors believe that God is Love and we are here to teach and spread God’s love to others in our school communities through prayer and service. Together we are called to treat our neighbors as ourselves, through living the virtues while sharing our faith and growing in our knowledge of God.

Pastoral Visits

We welcome Father Joseph and Father Andrew who will be visiting students in our school throughout the year.  We thank him for his blessings and support.

Students at Holy Family School have the opportunity to practice mass responses and understand the meaning behind the mass with scheduled visits to Holy Family Parish.

Virtues Education

A virtue is a habit or established capacity to perform good actions according to a moral standard.  A Catholic school is the ideal place to practice and prepare to live a virtuous life.  Many elements of Catholic character and virtue are developed in Dufferin-Peel schools.

In the coming year, our schools will focus on these particular virtues:

  • Faith - God made us to live together as a family community.
  • Empathy - God wants us to care about everyone’s feelings.
  • Conscience - God helps us to choose to be good people.
  • Hope - God helps us to keep on working for a more peaceful world even when we feel  discouraged.
  • Self-Control - God wants us to do what we know and feel is right.
  • Respect - God wants us to treat all people with the respect they deserve.
  • Kindness - God wants us to give generously to others around us.
  • Love - God wants us to serve and to see the goodness in everyone we meet.
  • Acceptance - God wants us to make friends with everyone no matter how different they may look  or act.
  • Fairness - God wants us to treat each person as we would like to be treated.

When we act out these virtues, we are making the presence of God visible in the world around us. We will be participating in our own prayer that: “your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.”  (Mt 6:10)

Grace Before Meals

Bless us,
O Lord,
and these your gifts,
which we are about to receive
from your bounty.
Through Christ our Lord.

Amen.

A Prayer for the Family

Jesus, our most loving redeemer,
You came to enlighten the world
with Your teaching and example.
You willed to spend the greater part of Your life
in humble obedience to Mary and Joseph
in the poor home of Nazareth.
In this way, You sanctified that family,
which was to be an example for all Christian families.
Graciously accept our family,
which we dedicate and consecrate to You this day.
Be pleased to protect, guard, and keep it
in holy fear, in peace,
and in the harmony of Christian charity.
By conforming ourselves to the Divine model
of Your family,
may we attain to eternal happiness.
